The N**** Word says Gwyneth

I would like to start this post by saying, I am not a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow. On the opposite side of the spectrum is where I live in the anti-Paltrow fan list. Just recently Gwyneth Paltrow has caused major controversy for tweeting the title of a song, “Ni**as in paris for real". At the time she was in Paris with friends Beyonce and Jay Z (the rapper of mentioned song).  As you can possibly imagine at the moment, people are PISSED and battle lines have been drawn for either side of this controversy.  One side says she should apologize because those words should never been have been said...by a white woman. Russell Simmons said she was showing pride for her friend. Nas says this, " I would slap the shit out of somebody for Gwyneth Paltrow,” Nas told  CBS Local  recently. “She’s the homie, she’s cool. Gwyneth gets a pass. Real people get a pass. We know what this shit is. We don’t interrupt Italians when they say ‘Wop’ to each other. They gonna punch you in the mou

Facebook is a waste land of broken dreams. (Facebook Depression)

How many times have you gone on to Facebook in order to "check up" on people only to find they've been trotting the world, landing amazing jobs or have just left you in the dust to the amazingness of their existence? It makes me wonder what is their damn secret? Why are they so happy? Why the hell haven't I managed to grow up yet? Kids that I used to babysit in high school are married and/or with children. I am with neither. This is by choice, but it does still tend to sting a little bit. Then there is the ever present pictures of people traveling the globe and seeing places that I haven't managed to see yet. Yes, I have been all over the world but while I am reading the Facebook page in my boring office that doesn't matter. It's like those things never happened or like they just weren't good enough in comparison.  What we don't see is the reality behind the pictures that make everything seem so amazing. For instance, all you might see in o

True Story of a Dumbass and a Phone

Getting my haircut has always been a huge annoyance. First, I don't like phone so I don't make appointments. Second, I don't like people touching me. This makes it difficult to allow someone to wash my hair. Third, I don't like taking the chance of sitting there so long with a person who turns out to be an idiot or perhaps just annoying. Well, this past Saturday was finally the day and I went to get it done.  This is not the particular dumb-ass I'm speaking of; it's my haircut. As most people know the chairs at the hair salon are pretty close together so it's quite easy to hear the conversation next to you. The first part involved a young girl having stolen quite a large of amount of things from different stores at the town center. Apparently, she kept grabbing stuff and going back to her car and the trunk was full.  The next part of the conversation involved a very touchy subject for me; texting and driving. I almost die on a daily basis becaus

WARNING: Snake Picture. Seriously.

What is the meaning of life is a popular question? Another is...How do I not waste my life? The last few days have gone by in a blur for me. Sunday I had to fast. Monday I had to fast and get my blood taken so I was exhausted and slept much of the day. Tuesday I had a Doctor appointment and had to get a procedure done that they gave me lots of meds to sleep. I was basically awake long enough to sleep and eat that day. Today, I woke early for another appointment came home, watched some tv and went back to sleep because I got bored of waiting for someone. After this I was given a lovely new car stereo and then we had a lovely dinner. Now I am at home wondering to myself, what the hell happened to the day? If I waste my days then that means that keep going by us, we keep getting older and then we die. Since I began to have a slight anxiety attack I decided to google the issue. I google everything else so I figure somewhere in the world I could have someone tell me what to do in ord

Pure Animal Instinct aka Toddler Size

People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself.  But the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates.  ~Thomas Szasz, "Personal Conduct,"  The Second Sin , 1973 In today's society of rules and norms, I don't think the idea of true happiness can actually exist. The only way to assert true happiness would be to return to the ways of our prehistoric ancestors or in more modern times, they ways of a three year old. If someone takes your toy, punch them and take it back. If someone has a toy you want, punch them and take it. If for some reason punching, kicking, biting doesn't work then fall to the floor kicking and screaming. If your hungry grab the tastiest thing you can find, be damned with  calories.  Most importantly, if you want to sleep...just sleep wherever you are standing. Being tired is a non issue. If this simple things were allowed I have no doubt that most of us would spend a majority of our times in

We Would Be Happier If We Were Still Being Chased By Dinosaurs

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”  ―  Mae West Happiness was easier to find at this age, before we realized what it was we were going after.  Life is beginning to feel as if it's a waste of time. Most people in the modern age have everything supplied for them so easily; food from a grocery store, entertainment in various forms depending on personality, some type of place to live with a variance in size, and usually no giant animal running after you in order to make you lunch. For this reason we no longer have to worry about survival and instead just have to worry about existing. There are several problems that come along with the mere idea of existence and usually they all involve things such as finding the meaning of life. We ask ourselves strange questions such as: Why am I here? How can I make every moment count? What does it all really mean? Then we tell ourselves terrible cliches such as: Make every moment count. There is a reason

Censorship or Pedophilia?

I believe in censorship. I made a fortune out of it. Mae West Recently I have come across articles from December 2010 that speak of Amazon and their censorship of certain materials. These materials include the erotica variety of certain incestual relationships.  At the time this caused a big stir because it came right after Amazon,  “believes it is censorship not to sell certain  books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable.” On their site they even had a statement stating something about respecting customers right to make their own purchasing decisions. The author's stament,  “This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certain rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter sentences should they ever be caught.”  This b

Finally Another Blog...and Some Oscar Speak

Yes, it's definitely been a while since I've written you lovelies a blog. This is because I've been writing my second novel and I've still been contemplating my masters degree options. A masters in...creative writing. This was actually something suggested by my Psych adviser and something I think may be a really good idea. I have one novel written and another in the works. Grad school could really help me pull my skills together in to one completed published novel. As you can imagine, I'm not writing this to tell you only about grad school, but I actually have something to say...the OSCARS were last night and I have NO CABLE. I do still have the results and a little bit of insight though. Octavia Spencer in "The Help" First things first, the reason I am writing, Best Supporting Actress. Before I start saying certain people do or don't deserve awards, remember these are my opinions. Also, I really like Octavia Spencer so part of me is really glad s

Whitney Houston Another Tragic Hollywood Story

When I was a kid, I used to watch a lot of movies with my family. When we watched movies like The Little Mermaid, All Dogs Go to Heaven or 101 Dalmations like a normal family I was bored. I pretty much hated every one of these movies at the time. Other movies we watched were What's Love Got to Do With It, Indecent Proposal and White Men Can't Jump. Sometimes these movies were a little over my head, but I usually preferred them. My favorite movie at 7 or 8 years old was The Bodyguard starring Whitney Houston. I loved this movie and I loved the lead as most people did and still do. This is my first memory of Whitney and possibly my last favorable memory of Whitney Houston. Not because of her talent, but because Bobby Brown helped to ruin everything. When she left him, I and probably every other person on the planet had hopes this was the turning point she needed to become the Whitney we knew and loved from years before. I guess this wasn't the case. As everyone kn

The Invention of God?

"Doubt is part of all religion. All the religious thinkers were doubters." Isaac Bashevis Singer Religion is a mystery. An invention by man. Is God? When I was a kid, I loved church. My parents wouldn't take me, but a bus would come and pick me up on Sunday mornings the same way the bus would come pick me up for school during the week. In fact, the Sunday school was in a school and very unlike the church I went to later as a teenager. I was saved 3 times before I actually learned what that term meant in high school. Then I was saved a fourth time attending church camp. Yes, I went to church camp as a teenager. Who would have thought? One of my favorite books as a kid was of bible stories for children. I wish I still had this book. I would sit outside and read that book for hours and talk to God as if he were sitting right next to me. I would ask tons of questions such as, "well, if Eve was the first woman, who was her mother?" As you can

Mildred Pierce: Joan vs. Kate

Mildred Pierce was a book written in 1941. A book that was also made in to two separate movies. One in 1945 starring Joan Crawford and the other in 2011 starring Kate Winslet. Just recently I have watched both films, mostly because I was tired of hearing how amazing Joan Crawford was and how Kate Winslet's version would never come close. After having watched both, I realize what I knew before, these people are really stupid. People who say this without proper knowledge of having seen Kate Winslet are just saying this because you must assume the older version is always better. They are making the assumption Kate Winslet can never compare to Joan Crawford because, well, because it is Joan Crawford and she won an Oscar for this role. I haven't seen any of the other movies that were performances of that category in 1945, but she does seem to have deserved it.  I love both performances and I loved both film versions. I still like Kate Winslet's version as a whole.

Making Money...Making Hobbies

"Making money is a hobby that will complement any other hobbies you have, beautifully." Scott Alexander I've read in several place that you should make a career out of what you are doing in your spare time. If it's your hobby, then you obviously like what you are doing. I am still having trouble deciding what I can do with these hobbies... watching hulu watching netflix playing Zuma checking my facebook account Any ideas? What hobbies can you think of that will become a useful career?

I Was Given All of the Awesome in the Gene Pool...Apologies to My Brother

It snowed last year too:  I made a snowman and my brother knocked it down and I knocked my brother down and then we had tea.  ~Dylan Thomas Me and my brother Christmas 2011 At the moment I am sitting in Starbucks, drinking lots of caffeine and listening to "Memphis" radio. This is a popular show still on Broadway and at one time played in theaters. Right now it is playing free on Memphis so I encourage everyone to watch it. Anyway, for some reason "Eye of the Tiger" cam on this station and for some reason I suddenly had the urge to run around punching people. I blame the song, but let's face it, Caffeine does strange things to me. Maybe the two together are like mixing Mentos and Diet Coke in my stomach. That's an insane amount of awesome. After kicking my brother's ass for about the millionth time in Words with Friends (123 point word with Faux) I did tell him this, "It's sad that I inherited all the awesomeness in the gene pool.&quo

Help a Candian...Former Instant Star

"The person who get the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure thing boat never gets far from the shore." Dale Carnegie Most people that know me, have no idea what I am talking about when I mention a particular interest. This could be any number of things including Julia Nunes (musician with a ukulele on YouTube), Garfunkel & Oates (more YouTube) and possibly shows such as Being Erika or Degrassi (Canadian). My interests aren't that amazing or that unique, so luckily, there's usually one friend that knows who or what I am talking about. Sometimes this knowledge may have come from some type of force. My poor boyfriend gets the majority of these things thrown at him (Gilmore Girls, Xena Warrior Princess, Instant Star, etc.) Poor guy! Not my boyfriend or me. Just a random photo. Those of you who also know me, know that when I like things, I like things hard. Instant Star, the music of Instant Star and Alexz Johnson happe

Happiness is...

Today I am happy. Only one person on the planet will understand that joke and she probably doesn't read this blog. I regret nothing. Every once in a while I obtain a caffeine high so big that I can barely control myself. It feels almost as if I could jump out of my own skin. Every once in a while this comes out as a weird dance move or just a strange move in general. During these moments I just hope no one is around  because it's almost as if I have tourette syndrome; uncontrollable. In honor of this day I will place a few pictures of things that make me happy. Gilmore Girls Classic Film  Making Art Broadway Shows All Chips and Dips Coffee and Tea Collecting Coffee Mugs That's all I can think of for the moment. What makes you happy?

PIPA, SOPA & Let's Not Punch Wikipedia in the Face. Yet.

"Relying on the government to protect your privacy is like asking a peeping tom to install your window blinds." John Perry Barlow Just recently I received my first suggestion on a blog idea. The idea was to write about the SOPA and PIPA bills. What are PIPA & SOPA? PIPA, if passed, will give  U.S. corporations and the government the right to seek affirmative legal action with any website that they see as enabling copyright infringement whether of U.S. origin or not. Here is a breakdown of all that they will have the power to do. SOPA, if passed, will work in conjunction with PIPA. As described by such entities as the Electronic Frontier Foundation, SOPA is nothing more so than the U.S. government and private corporations  black list .  Well, as many of you know these things are old news by now and I had no idea how I could actually approach the subject with something that hasn't been said already. My solution at this point is to not even try and to o
