Humiliation and Rage In a Day

Moon Unit Zappa For some reason whenever I feel the bitter taste of humiliation, I must speak about it. Perhaps I want someone to tell me the particular event wasn't that big of a deal, I'm over reacting or possibly that they've experienced the same shame as I have. One humiliation most people have endured is having someone walk in on you while using the bathroom. I'm not sure which person is actually more humiliated by this situation, but I think both people lose. Not everyone however, will experience something such as being walked in on while changing a sanitary item. I have and I must say, both people were losers in that situation as well. Immediately afterwards I told a friend about the incident almost as if she were a priest or a therapist that could make everything go away. Waiting For Our Real Life

Heather Locklear I think there is a general feeling of dread for those of my generation who are looking for their dream jobs and possibly for their dream family lives. It seems that without these pieces fitting in to place real life has not started and it's almost is we're stuck in some sort of purgatory. For those who are still in college think, well, this isn't it, this is only the journey. Once I get there my real life is going to start. This is what I thought until I finished my BA degree and realized there are so many other choices. I could go back to school get my MA, I could get a real job and settle somewhere. I work as a secretary in a University and I still keep wondering when my real life will actually begin.  I don't think there is any certainty when someone starts their real life. Sacrifice and Love...What Do You Think?

Heinlein For those who have read my blog about the 90s, you know that one of my favorite shows growing up was the show Boy Meets World.  In one of the these episodes, Feeny describes a relationship he's had with a woman for years: they meet up once a year, discuss what's different with their lives and ask the other to move so they can marry and be together. Neither is willing to move and I believe he makes a statement consisting of the fact that neither is willing to make such a sacrifice so they must not be in love. It has been a while, so please forgive my forgetfulness. Either way this brings me to a couple of questions. 1. I was particularly close to this cousin, because we spent years of our lives playing Barbie dolls and later years of our lives trying to write horrible romance novels together. You may be wondering why we chose romance novels, well, this is because in her library of books she read nothing except romance novels. She had hundreds all over her room and since this was the only thing in the house to read most of the time, I read them as well. This is where I began to learn what lust and love were according to fantasy rather than the typical way through watching Disney movies. Not Martin Luther King's dream, but the American dream. Throughout America's time, the dream has noticeably changed according to generation. When we began the dream was about, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." This is a phrase quoted in the Declaration, but originated with a philosopher by the name of John Locke. The Declaration also states, "All men are created equal." Since slavery existed during this time, we can only assume this was a typo and he meant all white men and only men. What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?

I don't think this is something I ever actually wanted to do, but something that was expected of me since I was a smart kid. Eventually, it just became fact that I was going to be a doctor and I never questioned it. That is until one day, the one person who always wanted me to be a doctor asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I told her the usual answer, "a doctor". Instead of the usual encouragement I heard the words, "still"? I think this is the moment I realized I actually had options and it turned my world upside down.
